Having grown up on Skaneateles Lake, one of NY’s most pristine Finger Lakes, we’ve always felt most “at home” beside the water. After a career change provided us an opportunity to live “wherever we wanted to”, we looked for a place that our farm animals and we could all call “home.” With family still in Central New York, the west side of the Catskills seemed like a good idea. We found these 8 acres on the banks of the famed Delaware River’s West Branch in the town of Deposit. The old house had “good bones,” and our brother said he and his friends had even stayed here on fly fishing trips. Our planets had aligned! We bought this big old house with a big barn and a handful of other “outposts”, sold our home in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and drove north.
Laurel Bank Farm became a “labor of love.” Two years later, we moved in and onto the property, then converted the big garage into a cottage. We love it here and hope you will, too.
The intention all along, was to have a place our friends and family could gather, cook and share meals, talk, laugh, disconnect (even if connected by wifi), fly fish, and enjoy each others’ company and that of our animals.
Appropriately, everything continues to grow here on the Farm...our collection of animals, our circle of friends, requests for cottage reservations, use of the big barn for events and private river access on our property.
